Already approximately one third of the world's population is living in either water-scarce or water-short areas. It is predicted that climate change and population growth will take this figure to one half of humanity. Lack of water is closely related to poverty.

Almost two out of three people lacking access to clean water survive on less than $2 per day, with one out of three living on less than $1 per day. Close to half of all people in developing countries suffer at any given time from a health problem caused by water and sanitation deficits. Millions of women spend several hours per day collecting water while over 400 million school days are lost due to water-related illness.
WRA plays a part in providing water security to the world's needy by facilitating the work of Widhya Asih Foundation.
