The resounding images of natural disasters that have swept the globe over the last few months can leave us emotional and motionless....

The CAMA Services Bright Lights project however, severely impacted by the September 22 Philippines typhoon, concluded that they could not wait for aid to arrive when the need was now. Borrowing money from the bank as a stop-gap measure, they set up an aid centre within their own building to feed people and distribute relief. Members of their community were stunned by the speed of the rising floods saying "We did not know that the water would ever reach this height, so we climbed on the roof. We were all terrified. How can we begin again?"

padangearthquakeLikewise LEAP, (Local Empowerment Assistance Project), responded to the opportunity to assist their many friends struggling to come to terms with losses in the September 30 Padang Earthquake. In the midst of the chaos, LEAP provided tarpaulins, mattresses and blankets, cooking utensils, food and hygiene packs.

RescueNet was also quick to swing into action following the September 29 Samoan Tsunami. This rapid response unit, a department of ARMS, was deployed to provide emergency care and trauma counselling. One woman, literally crippled by her grief, stood after care and prayer saying, "Now I can go on".

WRA partnered with RescueNet, LEAP and CAMA Services to bring emergency relief to people experiencing devastation beyond belief...turning their 'how can we begin again?' into 'now I can go on.'
